Schools...

Forest Schools provide new opportunities for children to learn about themselves and the natural environment by regular use of woodland as a natural, outdoor classroom.  The Active Swindon Project will be promoting this concept through a number of schools over the next few years, including Hreod Parkway and Sure Start at Penhill and Pinehurst.  ‘Schools in the woods’ can have a profound effect on youngsters, helping them to improve their self esteem, team working, and self motivation.  Over the longer-term their health improves, they have a continued desire for outdoor activity and develop a life long interest and care for the environment.
